It's odd, all the faculties the Lord has created in us... and He uses them. Honestly, do we really think He has given us the capability to imagine, dream, and even desire, and then leaves those untouched as a way to step into our limits and expand our understanding of Himself?
In the day-to-day grind we can often find ourselves in a place of being sort of half-blind to the Lord and His ways. I've recently been reminded of a few things that are true of God: He is neither shy nor boring; we must no longer think of Him, or act toward Him, as if He were.
At the end of my last post I shared one of the big things the Lord spoke to me while with YWAM for their 50th anniversary celebration in Hawaii in December of last year: "Begin to step toward the visions I have given you." Two specific visions had come to mind as He spoke those words.
The first, an actual vision that played in my mind as clear as watching a film, was something the Lord had given me 9 years ago. It was a vision of the world map. The focus went to California where I saw a small fire start. As I looked at the fire I saw a shaft of light (the power of Jesus) shoot out of it and several people appeared within the light. The Lord gave me understanding that these were disciples being sent out. Wherever this light went a new fire started. It began west and headed east, spreading north and south as it headed on its eastward journey, before eventually spreading world-wide. The next part of the vision was the world on fire, ablaze from the many fires that had been spread, and the cross of Jesus lifted high on top of the earth! Jesus glorified!
The second vision wasn't the same kind of vision, but an idea that I, nonetheless, feel came from the Lord about 2 years ago. The idea was to make a series of feature films about the life of King David, at least one of them being about he and his Mighty Men. These films should be of the highest quality Hollywood could produce... something that would rival the quality and innovation of box office hits like "300" and "Gladiator."
At the 50th, both of these things were spoken of during the teaching sessions! The theme of "The Flame Goes Forward" and its promotional video were nearly exactly the vision the Lord gave me years ago. Also, filmmaker David Cunningham announced he was beginning work on the first of 3 major motion pictures shot in full 3D: "Lion of War" is a series of films based on the life of King David and his mighty men! These were certainly confirmations that the Lord had both stirred these things in the hearts of His people, and that He was doing things to see these come about. I was in awe at the realization that the Lord was opening up doors for His purposes to be fulfilled in my life in new ways.
I didn't know when or how I would be involved or what to do next. I began to "step into the visions the Lord had given" by attempting to make contact with those whom I thought may have something to do with the visions. Through the advice of a friend, I wrote out the vision I had received 9 years ago and asked the Lord to make a way for me to get it to Loren Cunningham, the founder of YWAM. A very busy man, Loren is a person not easily bumped into. On my last evening in Kona, as I left the prayer room on the U of N campus, I looked up and saw, walking directly toward me, Loren... all by himself! A perfect time to hand him the letter containing the description of the vision the Lord had given me- the vision that seemed so similar to what He had given YWAM for their next seasons of ministry. God is so perfect!
I also began to try making contact with David Cunningham to share with him the similar idea that I had- if only to encourage him with the vision and task the Lord had given. I wasn't able to connect with David before leaving Kona and the 50th anniversary celebration. What was on God's heart? What was He imagining when He put these things before me years in advance of now?
My imagination was about to be expanded.
